Cheap China headset Warning. If its to good to be true then it most likely is junk.
If its in the 50.00 to 75.00 range read this before you buy.
THERE IS A CHINA COMPANY THAT HAS BEEN FLOODING THE MARKET WITH VERY LOW COST HEADSETS THAT ARE CHEAPLY BUILT AND SOLD TO DEALERS AS LOW AS 24.00 EACH INCLUDING FREIGHT FROM CHINA. OUR PRO 50 PROFESSIONAL HEADSETS ARE BUILT JUST FOR US AND USE THE HIGHEST QUALTILY PARTS AVAILABLE.
Dead giveaway is the mic, volume, boom and ptt as shown in picture.
. PRICE IS THE 1ST WAY. IF IT’S BELOW 75 BUCKS THEN STAY AWAY. OTHER EASY STANDOUTS ARE 1. IF MIC IS OFFSET FROM THE BOOM WIRE [see pic] STAY AWAY. 2ND IF THE PTT COVER IS CLEAR OR WHITE STAY AWAY. IF IT HAS A VOL CONTROL STAY AWAY. 3RD IF IT HAS ANYTHING OTHER THAN A MILITARY STYLE M101 MIC STAY WAY. 4TH IF THE MIC BOOM HAS A CHEAP PLASTIC KNOB FOR ADJUSTMENT THEN STAY AWAY.
Most likely if it fits all the above descriptions then its the cheap 24.00 China headset that we are talking about.
This is in no way trying to throw everybody under the bus because many great radio companies out there that have high quality headsets. We know we are not going to sell all the headsets we just want to inform you how to watch out for the junk.
How this Came About. One of the Tracks that we have been taking care of for over 15 years decided they could save some money and bought 10 Carbon looking Headsets on Ebay for 50.00 each delivered. 2 Months into the season 7 of the 10 quit working. The company they got them from would not help so they came to us for repair. The cost was between 42.00 and 58.00 to fix each one which was not worth it. One month later the other 3 quit. They replaced them with our PRO 50 Carbon series Headsets which added to the 10 they got from us 6 years ago that still work fine.
Lesson learned
WE CAN PROUDLY SAY THAT FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS OUR PRO 50 CARBON SERIES HEADSETS HAVE BEEN USED IN THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF RACING PLUS AT AND FOR TRACKS, OFFICALS, TRACK CREWS, FLAGMEN, RACE TEAMS FROM HOMESTEAD,DAYTONA,ATLANTA,TALLADEGA SHORT TRACKS TO SUPER SPEEDWAYS
